EV Charging

Supporting Sustainable Transportation

Campus Auxiliary Services provides a series of electric vehicle charging stations throughout the SUNY New Paltz campus through the ChargePoint network.

These Level 2 charging stations are available for use by faculty, staff, students, and visitors, supporting the campus commitment to environmental sustainability and reducing carbon emissions.

The charging stations project is the result of collaboration between the Office of Campus Sustainability, Facilities Management, and Campus Auxiliary Services, with funding secured through New York State's Charge NY program.

  • Report any station issues via app
Part of Campus Sustainability Plan

The EV charging stations are one of many sustainable transportation options at SUNY New Paltz, which also include a bike share program, new bike racks across campus, a Zipcar rental program for students, and the New Paltz Loop Bus with weekend service. These initiatives support the Campus Sustainability Plan signed in 2012 and help create a new car-culture on campus focused on environmentally-friendly transportation choices.

Charge NY Initiative

SUNY New Paltz is proud to participate in Charge NY, a statewide initiative creating a network of EV charging stations throughout New York State.

Led by the New York Power Authority (NYPA) and the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), Charge NY provides the necessary infrastructure to allow New York residents to take advantage of recent advances in electric transportation technologies.

The program supports the broader goal of getting more electric vehicles on the road and reducing overall gasoline consumption, contributing to cleaner air and reduced greenhouse gas emissions.
